Relevant leaders of the science and technology department and Development Department of the State Forestry and grass administration attended the meeting.
25 experts from 15 units including China Cultural Heritage Research Institute, Beijing Cultural Heritage Research Institute, Shanxi ancient architecture and color sculpture mural Protection Research Institute and Taiyuan University of technology attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Deng Kan, chief engineer of the Institute of wood industry, Chinese Academy of forestry.
Researcher Zhou Haibin, the team leader, mainly introduced the scientific research and innovation team of wood structure of cultural relics buildings, the scientific research achievements and the protection projects of wood structure cultural relics buildings carried out in recent years, emphasized the significance of formulating the technical standards for the detection of wood components of cultural relics buildings, and preliminarily put forward the technical outline covering 17 detection contents such as moisture content and diseases of wood components.
The participants had a heated discussion on the technical content, testing objects and technical difficulties, and put forward constructive suggestions.
Ma Bingjian, an expert in ancient architecture, believes that it is very necessary to formulate technical standards for the detection of wood components of cultural relics, which plays an important role in the determination of various properties and safety evaluation of wood components of cultural relics.
In addition to the detection of wood components, the research on the technical system of wood structure of ancient buildings is also very urgent.

China’s law on the protection of cultural relics clearly defines cultural relics and ancient buildings.
The detection technology locates cultural relics and buildings.
The specific content of the detection technology should reflect the characteristics of cultural relics and buildings and follow the principle of minimum intervention in cultural relics protection.
The testing technical content shall be matched with the current national standard GB / t50165 technical code for maintenance and reinforcement of wood structures of ancient buildings, especially the relevant provisions on strength calculation and safety assessment of wood members.
The delegates spoke one by one, emphasizing that the wood component testing technology is more reasonable for cultural relics buildings.
It is suggested that the wood component testing of cultural relics buildings should be divided into on-site and laboratory testing, improve the testing technical ability of concealed parts and internal diseases of wood components, increase the testing contents of non structural components, newly added wood components and previous reinforcement effects, and standardize the testing personnel and testing behavior, It points out the importance of relevant data standard records and database construction.
Beijing and Shanxi are the two regions with the largest distribution of wooden structures of cultural relics.
Under the witness of participating experts, representatives of the two places jointly unveiled the “research and safety assessment center of wooden structures of cultural relics”.
The main objective of the establishment of the wood structure research and safety assessment center for cultural relics buildings is to support the accurate implementation of rescue and preventive protection of cultural relics buildings and the construction of risk early warning system for cultural relics buildings.
