Dextra Group, located in Bangkok, Thailand, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of civil engineering construction products.
It has branches in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia.
Since its establishment in 1983, Dextra Group has participated in the construction of more than 10000 large-scale construction and industrial projects worldwide, which provides it with unique global experience and expertise.
However, the most prominent design of Dextra Group is the Groupec mechanical connection system.
Groupec mechanical connection system Groupec is a mechanical connection system with internal thread at one end specially designed by Dextra Group for the connection of prefabricated concrete components.
Each Groupec sleeve has a threaded end (used for connection between prefabricated steel bars) and a very wide cavity, which can be filled with non-shrink mortar at the construction site.
During the design and manufacturing process, Groupec has three models to choose from: small S, large L, and F.
S and L can be connected to any of the screw systems designed by Dextra, including Rolltec, Bartec and Fortec, while F can be connected between components independently without any reinforcement.
At the construction site, the connection can be completed by injecting non-shrinkage mortar into the cavity of the mold, and the process only takes a few seconds.
Whether the upper or lower components are connected horizontally or vertically, Groupec can successfully complete.
In the prefabrication plant, with the help of Groupec, precast concrete components can be connected quickly and accurately, which can save a lot of time in the construction process.
In recent years, Dextra Group has built a large number of famous buildings with the use of the Groupec connection system.
Let’s take a look at the great power of this small internal thread connection system in architecture.
Plum Blossom Apartment Project A typical case of Dextra Group using the Groupec connection system is the Plum Blossom Apartment in Bangkok, Thailand.
Plum Blossom condominium is a 38-storey condominium project, consisting of two towers, each of which is 112 meters high, and is located near the elevated subway station in Pauai County, northwest of Bangkok.
After completion, the residential building will accommodate 1013 apartments.
The first phase of the project (the first tower) was started in September 2015 and completed around March 2018.
Rapid construction has been achieved through the use of “fully prefabricated” concrete technology, and the project builder Pruksa has also used its own prefabrication plant for this project.
For this project, Pruksa’s goal is to quickly lift prefabricated wall panels (to be used as shear walls) during the construction process.
Therefore, using the Groupec connection system is the best choice for this project.
The installation process of the Groupec mechanical connection system: the prefabricated wall panel is designed to be 2.5 meters wide and 2.8 meters high.
The Groupec threaded connection system is installed on the reinforcement at the bottom of the floor slab with a diameter of 25 mm (the reinforcement was previously made of Bartec threads).
Then cast the Groupec installed at the bottom of each prefabricated component into a part of the prefabricated wall panel component.
Prefabricated components pouring screw connection installation of the Groupec connection system on the template positioner installation of the wall panel before the injection pipe pouring: the wall panel after pouring: because the cavity of the Groupec is very wide, the prefabricated components can be connected accurately even if the axial deviation is large.
Install sealing plates on the wall panel to prevent grouting leakage.
After installation, release the crane shackle and inject non-shrinkage mortar (it only takes less than five seconds to inject the mortar into the cavity of the mold).
Once the grout overflows, the lower pipe can be filled with mortar for three days to remove the braces around each wall panel.
In addition to Plum Blossom Apartment, Dextra Group has many cases of using the Groupec connection system, For example, the forest city project in Johor, Malaysia.
Forest City is a large-scale comprehensive urban development project in Iskandar, Johor, in the southern tip of Malaysia.
From the early stage of the project, Dextra Group has been involved in it, providing it with the S product of the Groupec connection system as a prefabricated solution.
The Groupec connection system enables the rapid connection of prefabricated columns and wall panels without the need for repeated installation on site, thus speeding up the construction of the project.
The Forest City Project also uses several sets of Bartec threading equipment, which are compatible with the threaded reinforcement, so they can be connected with the top of the Groupec sleeve.
Dextra’s after-sales team has also conducted many employee trainings to ensure that it can maintain a high level of production throughout the project.
Jamnagar Refinery Expansion Jamnagar Refinery is located in Gujarat in western India, and is currently the largest refinery in the world.
It was put into use in 1998, with an area of more than 50 square kilometers.
Dextra Group has been involved in the construction of Jamnagar from the early stage, and has provided excellent reinforcement joint solutions for the group in the first, second and third stages of the project.
Especially for Phase 3, three types of rebar connectors are used: Bartec connection system is used for on-site casting and rebar connection in foundation, pile cage and column cage.
The Bartec connection system is also used to connect the reinforcement in the raft and pile cap.
For the pipe rack constructed by prefabricated components, the prefabricated plant uses the Groupec connection system to connect beams and columns, which is placed in the components at the bottom of the pipe rack and filled with cement mortar, so that the components can be connected quickly.
